The Megstone Plot (Bello) by Andrew Garve
The Megstone Plot (Bello) by Andrew Garve
A well written story from an author who is overlooked these days, but used to be ranked highly among crime fiction writers. The plot is suitably convoluted with good twists. The problem is that there's no-one to care about. The commander and Isobel are both selfish, narcissistic people who use others for their own gain. And everyone else comes across as being rather pathetic. This lack of sympathetic characters left me with very little interest in following the rest of the story. A shame, I was really disappointed with this one.
To Wake The Dead (Dr Gideon Fell Book 9) by John Dickson Carr

Really enjoyed this one. Gideon Fell is not too annoying, the romance is not too overdone, and the plot is excellent. Enjoyed all the characters, and didn't guess the murderer at all until all was revealed. Carr should be as famous as Christie, his plots are just as good. Curl up with this one and enjoy.
The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Wi&hellip by Jonas Jonasson

This is the best book I've read for ages. Absolutely laugh out loud moments, and full of the most unbelievable coincidences. Great characters, such great stories. I loved the combination of Forrest Gump-like innocence and Thelma and Louise road-trip. Also, the combination of Allan's wanderings through history and his current situation works really well. Can't recommend this enough.
