This book was surely a labour of love for the author and it shows. It's probably the best music biography I've ever read, no nasty gossip, just simply a very classy work.

I remember hearing Kenny Everitt play "Dismay Day" around 1969 and from that moment I was hooked. There's mention in the book of a recording that found it's way into the record shops in an unofficial capacity purporting to be a Bread release. I bought a copy in HMV years ago for 2.99 - thrilled to get it at a bargain price. I had just finished reading Julian Clary's auto-biography when my new purchase of Robert Marlowe's book arrived. At completely different ends of the spectrum, I didn't know what I would make of Robert's approach to writing and initially thought that I'd just dip in and out of his work. How wrong I was! This book is a fascinating read for anyone with an interest in light entertainment.

I met and auditioned for Robert Marlowe at the Theatre Royal in Norwich when he was casting for his Cromer "End of the Pier Show" in the 1990's.
