Well written book of 13 short biographies. Each one is interesting and encouraging. As mentioned in the foreword it is a hard book to put down. The main theme is God's work in people's lives.War is not glorified in the book, indeed some of the scale of the horror of War is portrayed. The Second World War is portrayed as necessary to stop the aggression of Nazi Germany and Japan.
The characters in the book are well portrayed and there is at the end of each chapter details of sources of (further) information.
I highly recommend the book.

Being very keen on internet Chess at the moment,I thought a book on Chess openings would be very useful.I had bought an earlier edition of BCO in the past but no longer have it.
This edition is excellent. The book is very well organised. It is easy to follow and is comprehensive, being over 700 pages long.
I have found it very useful and it has been well used already and I have had it only a few months.
As said earlier the format is very clear and involves following columns and referring to notes sometimes. The book is well researched.
I have flicked through the book a few times even looking at openings I dont play, just because I like the book itself!
I really recommend… Read more

Absolutely superb!I was concerned when I read a very negative review on Amazon, but I should not have been concerned.A classic Oldfield album, with the usual great tunes, fine giutarwork etc and even some fine songs.
