5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic DVD set, 20 April 2004
Although it took me about two episodes to get into the style of animationthis set of 13 episodes of Spidey's new animated series is truly stunning.Brilliantly rendered and written the story takes up after the Movie andhas Peter Parker/Spider-man trying to juggle college, girls andcrimefighting. It's clever, smart and sassy. The character interaction iswonderful and the action set pieces are some of the best I've scene in ananimated series. But it's the writing that shines through and the humanityof the characters that keep this high flying web slinger grounded.Theextras on the DVD set are also exceptional -- An honest-to-goodnessquality product.

AS a Spidey fan for almost three decades Ultimate Spidey is the title thatreenergized my love for the character. Bendis, Bagley and company hit allthe right notes and makes this a thrilling opening arc to the ongoingseries. It had been a long time since the sheer joy and RUSH of a comicbook series had made me giggle like a ten year old in a sweet shop.
Ifyou're a Spidey fan or lapsed Spidey fan -- look no further.

I was also happy to note that it was riding high in the Top 30…great stuff for a movie almost 25 years old that wasn’t a commercial success on its initial release. But I have to say that the presentation is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. Warner brothers and their various associates have done NO justice to this film.
What they’ve done is basically transfer the master onto DVD. The sound and picture have not been improved indeed I’d think it fair to say that a recent VHS copy would be… Read more
