There's usually a good reason why recordings are left on the shelf, as the tracks on this album were for more than thirty years. It's because they aren't any good. Now, don't get me wrong. I am a great admirer of Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and other great recording artists who began their careers on the Sun label. But let's face it, by the mid-1970s they were producing hardly a single track worth listening to, and amongst the worst were the songs of Johnny Cash, which were becoming derivative to the point of repetitiousness, as well as increasingly silly. What I love about this collection is the way they shave a second off the beginning and end of every track so that, actually, you never get the full version of any recording. Brilliant.

I only bought this (having seen it on TV) for the scenes with Kimberley Nixon as the money-grabbing psychic masseur - a delighful gem of a performance by an exceptionally pretty, talented and funny actress. One star is for the show - highly formulaic with tired writing and generally somnamblusitic acting; the other three are for Ms Nixon!
