Mors et Vita. A Sacred Trilogy ... Vocal score wit&hellip by Charles François Gounod
5.0 out of 5 stars A Jewel so precious, 2 Mar 2011
Where do I begin! Gounod created a masterpiece when he composed this work "Mors et Vita" a sacred triology which is a portion of a much larger work "Redemption."
I procured the CDs (2) of this work recorded by EMI, in 1985 whilst in London and have been searching the world for a Latin text vocal score to it ever since, to no avail and gave up. Novello, however; have published the vocal score with English text only. This is useless, as the work was recorded in the Latin vernacular. This year, 2011,(don't ask me why!) I decided to re-commence my search for a Latin score and low and behold I found this one on Amazon UK. This score (now out of print) would you believe not only has the… Read more

Puccini's La Bohemè: how many of them do we have to endure?
Yes! It is a brilliant work and does contain some of Puccini's most memorable melodies. So if you have to have a Puccini La Bohemè in your collection, then, this is the one. It has THE best casts on record; HOWEVER; I still prefer the lesser known Leoncavello's La Bohemè. But! for now, I will be objective on Puccini's.
You have Scotto at her riveting best as Mimi & the wonderful Carol Neblett as Musetta, the best in these rolls.
Then there are the men: Alfredo Krause as Rudolfo, Sherrill Milnes as Marcello, Paul Plishka as Colline & Matteo Manuguerra as Schaunard. What more can you ask for, eat… Read more

I was lucky enough to be in London when this was playing at the Criterion Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was pleased to see it available on Video. Even though they have taken it out of the Theatre, it is still a very good production. I have the Video but wish it was available on DVD! It is one of the better gay plays today with an ironic twist at the end.
You'll have to see it to find out what it is!!!!! Sooooooooooooooooooooo!
