This is a deeply opaque book but with the spark of divine genius.
Tom Wright begins his book with an account of what happened in New York on January 15th 2009. The pilot of a plane taking off from LaGuardia airport faced imminent disaster. The plane had hit a flock of geese and both engines failed.
It was the series of decisions that the pilot made in the seconds that followed that turned a disaster into a miracle. The pilot and his copilot brought the plane down safely on the Hudson River.

I found this inspirational when it first came out several years ago. It gave me confidence as a GP in working with people with drug addiction. Having heard Jackie Pullinger speak recently, I want to buy another copy to lend to people.
