Set in 1950s America, in a small town, the character of John Skillpa is a puzzling one. He has obviously had a disturbed childhood, a strange upbringing and an overbearing mother. However, in order to overcome his nervous disposition he assumes the character of a woman called Emma. After a freight train is derailed and crashes in his backyard, his hitherto private life becomes more public and people are inquisitive about Emma, whom they assume is his wife. The story is further complicated by an old friend called Maggie and her little son Jake, who is turns out it actually John's son. As Emma becomes stronger, she plans to dispose of John altogether. With spooky music, dramatic sets… Read more

Such a simple idea, yet so effective. These pans are ideal if you want to start cooking a meal on a hob and then transfer the dish to the oven to finish it off. The clip on handle is easy to release and when you put it back on it is very firm and stable. So you can even take the dish back out of the oven using the handle, no need for oven gloves. The two pans in the set are ideal sizes, one for small meals and one for family size meals. And the non-stick surface makes washing up so easy, just rinse under the tap and wipe with a damp cloth and put back in the cupboard. The separate handle makes storage easy too. I have used these pans for every meal since I got them and thoroughly… Read more

The story is set in the early 1920s in a world so different from our own. The First World War is over, the War to end all Wars (or so they said at the time). But the horror and carnage of the trenches is still fresh. The few men that returned from the Front are seriously wounded, so that one who isn't apparently damaged stands out from the rest. Four friends, Ava, Lydia, Sarah and Beatrice live in a privileged society, one of debutantes and balls, large houses, servants, and old values. However, the world is changing and women are no longer the second class citizens they once were, they are taking their lives into their own hands. This story tells how each of the girls copes with the… Read more
