Cannot set it up. Refuses to accept email data. Needs clearer instructions. At the moment this is unusable. A pity, because a spam filter is sorely needed for Kindle.
Introduction to Manuscript Studies by Raymond Clemens

Certainly the best book currently available on Manuscript Studies. The coverage is as comprehensive as a single volume allows, and the illustrations are excellent. It is perhaps worth saying that local historians will need further help with the scripts used in local records, and with the numerous kinds of document found in local archives. But this is not a criticism of the book itself. The authors clearly state what the book is about, and carry out the job admirably.

Well chosen passages, each with a short but informative introduction and with following notes on the Latin. The notes are a little idiosyncratic, though in constructing notes like these it is always difficult to know what will help the reader and what is superfluous. Anyway, there are very helpful, fairly literal translations at the back of the book. The only real problem with the book is the very small size of the text, especially of the Latin passages, which are italicised and this makes the problem worse. Ageing eyes like mine need a magnifier.
