I use this with my pupils along with books by John Schaum and Barnaby Byron. My only criticism is that there are loads of American tunes in it that are not relevant to Europeans really. It is better than the Shaum books though.

I have been using this book with my piano students for two months now and I am very pleased with it. It is both tutorial and fun (not that the 2 should be mutually exclusive.)

In short, there are several styles of piano piece beginning with a minuet and ending with two beautiful nocturnes. Before or after each style is a blurb of about half a page giving just enough information about each type of music. Barnaby Byron has a pleasant, conversational style to his prose and can write some very nice pieces of music ('Alone', 'Waves' and 'Vodyanoi' are quite exeptional).
