As a long term fan of the Blue Nile, Paul Buchanan's first solo album does not disappoint. I'm very glad I purchased the deluxe edition because the second CD going by the title 'Two' is to my mind better than the Mid Air CD and contains the most beautiful collection of songs and instrumentals that are on a par with the excellent body of work produced by The Blue Nile.
This is a great album. Melody Gardot has a beautiful voice, the arrangements and orchestration are superb and it has been created with heartfelt care and consideration. That all but one track was written by Ms Gardot came as a surprise to me because they sound like established standards, which highlights the quality of her writing and composing talents. When all the hype dies down hopefully she can go on to make further gems like this.
