If, and I said IF, you want or need closed-back headphones, these really are exceptional value for money. They are beautifully made and look gorgeous in a body-builder sort of way. Sound wise, they are about on par with the 330 B&W P7s but, and it is a very big BUT, much as the cheaper, open back, B&W P5s are far better than the closed back P7s, you can find better sound from much cheaper open back headphones than the K550s. Pretty well any of the Grados for example. I would say that the K550s are about on par with the Jays v-Jays for only 32, so I will compare them with those.

You can't see in the picture but the black bits at the end are shiny plastic which rather spoil the appearance and make it look cheap. Otherwise it looks just fine.

It feels strong enough for a compact camera but I wouldn't trust something like an SLR on it. The extent of the redundant stitching, and therefore strength, is not clear as you can not accurately trace the strap etc under that shiny plastic. For comparison purposes, the strap on my Canon U/W enclosure is probably 10 times as strong and gives TOTAL confidence.

The clip on/off system seems safe enough. It is actually quite difficult to release with wet fingers.

The strap adjuster is not very… Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Handle is too small, 26 Jun 2014
This is generally a well made lock-knife with accurate engineering. The hinge is solidly made with no side to side wobble. The blade is not secured precisely so there is minor fore & aft movement - which is a shame but not a deal breaker. The lock button operates easily and it can easily be folded one-handed. It can just about be opened one-handed but it is not easy.

The red handle (see picture) is rubber surrounding the steel structure. Security of grip is pretty good but the handle is smaller than ideal. It is smaller than the palm of my hand, which means that I need to grip it hard to guarantee that it does not move in my hand. It would be far better if it was just a little… Read more
