I have to say as a long time Alice fan I hear all of the time, "This is the best Alice Cooper record since..." many times over. The truth is, that it IS the best that I have heard, and I will go out on a limb here - From the Inside.
The reason is this - it seems that Alice has embraced his 1970s rock (and camp) roots, and, with the help of Bob Ezrin, created a masterpiece worthy of many of the 1970s classics. It even features the surviving member of the original Alice Cooper band on several tracks - not only the playing but songwriting credits. I too was lucky enough to see (and talk to) Gary and Mark here in Central Kentucky (Lexington to be precise). They were playing the Christ the King Oktoberfest celebration in the early fall. I know a Catholic fund raising event may not be the glory days of old, but it was a tremendous, very intimate set under a mid-size outdoor tent with many fans in toe (whom, like my wife and I had grown a bit older and had some children to bring along to introduce to music that inspired their parents).
