My Naughty Little Sister's Friends by Dorothy Edwards
5.0 out of 5 stars An old favourite, 6 July 2014
My Naughty Little Sister is such a great character. I read or had read all the books to me as a child and loved them. It was so nice to read about normal, mischievous children instead if good ones!
I read the books to my own children and have just bought this book for my four year old niece.
The Cross Spotty Child in this book was a particular favourite. When My Naughty Little Sister gets ill with the measles, kind Mrs Cocoa Jones comes round with a special box......as a child you just wish and wish you had a Get Well box like that. My own children and I tried to recreate it....but it wasn't the same!
I would recommend these lovely tales and the other Naughty Little Sister… Read more
More Tales from the End Cottage (Young Puffin Book&hellip by Eileen Bell
5.0 out of 5 stars Another lovely book, 6 July 2014
I had read and reread Tales from End Cottage since I was very young and loved it. So decided to buy MoreTales recently and hoped it would be more of the same.
It was. Lovely stories, wonderful illustrations (the one of George on Mrs Apples bed after he has just been sick made me laugh out loud!) and that same feeling of peace and happiness.
I still aspire to be Mrs Apple.....it seems a lovely life!
Children will just love these simple but interesting tales of a no longer seen way of country life
Tales from the End Cottage (Puffin Books) by Eileen Bell
5.0 out of 5 stars Idyllic, 6 July 2014
I first read Tales from End Cottage when I was small and just wanted to be Mrs Apple and live her country life with Tooty ,George and Shush. I still feel the same!
This is a book I reread again and again. It's so special and comforting.
Mrs Apple has a simple life in her little cottage with her pets but there is always something happening and life is never dull.
My own children loved this book too.
