The main reason that I purchased this part is because all the sockets face the same way. Other versions use alternate sockets facing opposite directions and do not suit mounting on a vertical panel where I have the Masterplug unit mounted. I bought to replace a broken unit that used a single switch for all 6 ways. This had the advantage of being able to turn off all appliances together but there are times when it is useful to turn individual appliances on or off separately - I expect I will get used to it.
Given that Ethernet uses digital signals, a cable either works or doesn't. Having said that, the construction quality is very good and I expect it will last for many years without any problems. There is very little choice for these shorter cables (0.2m) and it is OK but Iwould have preferred a thinner and/or more flexible cable if one were available. I have a much longer cable that was supplied with a NAS disk system and this uses ribbon cable, so it is very small and flexible (but unscreened).
