Hilarious play that works on so many levels. Very hard to review without giving the plot away but I loved the way Shakespeare is utilised and the play on critics' sensibilities kept me laughing until the very end. Excellent.
Overall the storytelling is poor, and it is very repetitive. It is impressive that he could turn the narrative of "boy is good at football, boy is small and needs hormones, Argentinian club won't pay, Barcelona pay, boy is quiet and stubborn but wins games single handed, becomes best player in the world but is still socially awkward. Boy then needs to be coddled, won't tolerate not getting his way or others having the leading role and acts like a child all the time crying and huffing. Then has a baby, spits on someone once, handballs it once and gets a haircut. Oh, and is cordial with Ronaldo" into 600 pages. That's about it.
