5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 9 May 2012
New reader of Dan Simmons' work, and have to say, this was EXCELLENT. I have to admit, the explanation of inuit spirits and their arc was VERY hard going, but, lasted only several pages of a VERY large tome, of which 99.9% was gripping, atmospheric, and struck exactly the right level of horror/fantasy, and realistic intrigue. A book with pride of place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, 26 July 2011
Fantastic! Wish it covered Part 2 of Deathly hallows, but, upto Part 1 will do. The pull outs are great, marauders map brilliant. A top purchase for any harry potter fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems unfinished, 24 Jun 2011
This is very helpful, interesting, and clearly, the author loves Harry Potter just as much as I do, BUT, it seems unfinished.

There's not enough 'factual' detail on any of the characters, and too much opinion. For example, Dumbledore is listed as being 'in love' with Grindlewald (though he may have been, it was never explicitly stated in the books), and nothing is included about the circumstances of [SPOILER, SPOILER, SPOILER] his death.

A good for-runner of an OFFICIAL lexicon or encyclopaedia, but, not what I was hoping; could have been much better. Entries from wikipedia are more informative. Sorry Mr. Vander Ark.
