This is the latest in the Merrily Watkins series of books,and having read all of them I found this one the most enjoyable. The reason I think I enjoyed it so much was that Phil had rested some of his most popular characters, (Gomer Parry,Lol etc.)while resurrecting others (The Thorogoods). As usual Mr Rickman will cost me a bloody fortune by compelling me to visit Hay, as he has to various other locations in his writings. Magus of Hay escorts the reader through the cobbles and timbers of this ancient town, imparting sinister overtones to the otherwise normal streets and alleys. Usual Merrily sense of place, the characters developing, really enjoyed this book. I will be gutted when I run out of Rickman to read.

Without doubt the worst book I have ever downloaded. I should have guessed by the spelling mistake on page 1,(past for passed) that I had made a mistake. All the cliches in the world in one book. What astonishes me is the good reviews it had got. So bad it became funny.
