Drawing & Painting Flowers with Coloured Pencils by Trudy Friend
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book, 7 April 2014
I was very pleased indeed with this book. There aren't that many books on coloured pencil work as opposed to books on other media. The book not only has a very good number of attractive paintings that I would like to have a go at but also accompanies them by good instruction and preliminary sketches and how to proceed. It is an attractive and well produced book which is both nice to look at and full of very helpful instruction. Highly recommended
The Secret Ladder: A Spiritual Adventure by Noreen Mackay
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 26 Mar 2014
This book was a well written, interesting and very honest account of a person's entry into a religious order. The author made every attempt to explain her trials and tribulations and really drew the reader in. Highly recommended.

I did enjoy this book. I was put off sequels almost for life after reading that dire offering Pemberley. However, this book was extremely well written and captured the sense of the times very well. The contrast between the lives of the upstairs people and downstairs was very well done I thought. Harsh red hands of maids toiling from dawn to dark hauling coal and wood and the upstairs people with their laces, bonnets and pommades. And the servants had their own story which was quite credible.
