In My Own Words:
My review of Paddy in the Smoke:
I first heard Paddy in the Smoke as a record around 1970. At the time I had just moved to New Hampshire from Berkeley and I was playing the fiddle for New England contra-dances. My interest in Irish music was just developing. I thought the playing on the record was very nice. But it was scratchy fiddling and sometimes the intonation was a bit off. I wore that recor… Read more

This isn't a book for the reader who wants a superficially thrilling mystery novel with a death on every page, full of broken glass and violence. The violence is contained and never either repellingly graphic or superfluous. The novel proceeds slowly and often confusingly. Although it is slow at times I was totally engaged and accepted Ekman's pace and intelligence. It is a marvelous book, way beyond the mystery genre. The environment, a people on the verge of extinction (the Sami), small-townspeople people on the edge of sanity, troubled families, people in love, people who live in small towns on the edge of society, adolescent longing, mother-love, are wrapped like a tissue of humanity… Read more
Le Creuset Cast Iron Round Casserole, Satin Blue, &hellip by Le Creuset

At first I was very disappointed in Le Creuset. I said that it was very expensive, very heavy, and that the enamel did not last. I coupled this with what at the time was bad customer service.
We have bought lots of Le Creuset cookware over the years. We have given lots of Le Creuset as presents- to our kids, to in-laws, to close friends. About eight years ago one of the daughters gave us a 24cm. Dutch oven.
To shorten the story, this year the enamel on the bottom started peeling. No problem, my wife said. Creuset will honor their 30 year warranty. We mailed the heavy pot back- for 40 Euros since we were in Ireland at the time. Le Creuset responded by telling us that their… Read more
Gear4/PodGear CarDock - Cradle/Charger for iPod by PodGear

5.0 out of 5 stars Great thing to have, 11 Nov 2006
I have one of these units. It nice to have the iPod secure in one spot, and be able to access the pod with one hand while driving . The earlier *** rating isn't fair. The problem is with 1. the layout of the car, which should be considered when you buy the car dock (you can't fault the car-dock if it doesn't fit your car's design) and 2. a person who is probably taking corners too fast and making the car dock move around.

I'm using the fat and heavy 40GB iPod. I had to press the pod into the cradle to make the contacts secure but now it's a dream to use. It is secure even on the holy roads of rural Co Clare, Ireland. I am delighted to have it. For what it is - I give it 5 stars… Read more
