Live albums usually pull up short after a listen or two but here is a no frills capture of why people go out and listen to live bands. In "I Walk on Gilded Splinters" you have the superb blend of the gifted guitar tone of the young Frampton perfectly complemented by the raw edge of Marriot's gutsy delivery of both voice and guitar lines as they build upon a slow tempo to craft 23 minutes of the highest quality blues/rock with the emotion, dynamics and total control of the varied tempos that only a band who do this for a living can produce.No premadonnas here just proper music.
