Recycled Home by Rebecca Proctor features 50 creative craft projects for the home, created using unwanted, salvaged or repurposed materials. The book covers a wide range of projects including hand painted towels, feature cushions, braided rag rugs and ragbag bunting. Some of these are made completely from upcycled materials, whilst others combine the use of new and old materials. Patch! by Cath Kidston
Patch! by Cath Kidston
As is clear from the book's title the 4th book from chintz and shabby chic queen Cath Kidston, focuses on patchwork and includes a great kit to make either a Dresden plate tote bag or cushion as shown on the cover.

This book is a great introduction to patchwork for beginners, either like me who can sew but have never done patchwork before, or even beginners to sewing itself, as the first section covers chapters on Essential Equipment, Cutting Out, Machine Know-How and Sewing Basics. The book also covers basic appliqué & embroidery methods as well as choosing your fabrics.

The second section is the projects with a wide variety of projects all with reasonably good… Read more

The second feltie book by Sarah Skeate features more of her ultra cute soft-toy designs. Star Felties also contains 8 cute characters to stick and stitch such as Flubble, Ziggy, Squiboo and the rest of the Star Feltie friends. These adorable little aliens need minimal stitching as again any extra features can be simply glued on.

This book follows the same structure as the first. With basic sewing skills being clearly explained and clear illustrations for each step, again making it ideal for children wanting to learn to sew. These little star felties also have their cute characteristics listed, such as the fact that Flubble likes to eat squiggleweed! This book also includes… Read more
