Fourth Faction

I am a long time reader of Judge Dredd who prefers to catch up on the latest stories through the Collated Graphic Novels (like this one), rather than getting the weekly comics. I was very keen to read the new "mega epic" of Day of Chaos and recently bought the two parts. I have just finished reading Part 1 "The Fourth Faction". This didn't feel like a mega epic to me, at least not in the old sense of the word when you had a 20+ week by week story on the same topic. This story takes the format of a thread of the larger, looming story, occurring within the daily activities of Judge Dredd. As a result of this we get several 2000AD and Megazine stories that are of good… Read more
Judge Anderson: The Psi Files (Rebellion 2000ad) by John Wagner

A long time ago, when I was about 10 or so, I started reading 2000ad. Judge Anderson was always an interesting character and quite different from Judge Dredd but the fact that they operated in the same world lead to a easy understanding of her surroundings. This Volume is about 4 or 5 years work from various short 5-10 episode stories. The early works are quite simplistic, but these start to mature quite quickly and it becomes a bit more adult and serious in tone (thankfully). Judge Death makes a few appearances but (like the Daleks in Dr Who) his iconic status has been deminished by poor story telling and frequent overuse. Anyway, back to the review. The Artwork is only so-so. Its all… Read more

Long time Dredd fan - first time reviewer.

I started reading Judge Dredd about 25 years ago. I probably missed the first year or two of 2000AD in its original format, but quickly found myself addicted to the comic and have been a long time fan.

I recall in my early readings of Dredd some of the references to things like Walter the Wobot and Maria (Dredd's maid), but never read them. Until now.

I like to read the odd Graphic Novel every now and then, so a bit of nostalgia brought me to Vol 1 of the Case Files.

They say to never meet your heros. I kinda understand that a bit now. Dredds early stories were poor, the writing was cliche'd and the… Read more
