The headline says it all really. smart, funny, profound, more than a touch beautiful and one of the only books that deserves to sit on the same shelf as the works of Neil Gaiman. Patrick Rothfuss really is that good.

Burns ink at a terrifying rate, driver micromanages everything, will not let you greyscale in emergencies when a colour cartridge runs low (not out, it flat out lies when it says they are empty). False economy. Do not kid yourself, this is a device designed to sell you ink, nothing more.

The Way of Kings was a beautifully written book with compelling characters and by far the most interesting setting (and magic system) so far from Sanderson. As a result Words of Radiance was one of my 'most looked forward' to books. It does not disappoint. The considered and careful examination of the characters, the well paced (for those that have a modicum of patience) tension building style, the perfect dramatic beats, the superb dialogue and the intricate plotting remain firmly under Sandersons control.
