In The Blood [DVD] DVD ~ Gina Carano
In The Blood [DVD] DVD ~ Gina Carano
I went in with deliberately low expectations, as the trailer wasn't great and many aspects of the film sounded like firm straight-to-DVD movie territory. Although the cast are quite high-profile, the entertaining Danny Trejo flits between great projects and junk, Cam Gigandet's hardly set the world on fire after his Twilight big break, and Carano's career seems to be building slower than expected (perhaps breakthrough movie 'Haywire' was a bit too obscure and talky for many action fans, leaving a major fight completely off-screen). Unwilling to lose hope, she… Read more

Need for Speed is an odd beast: - effectively the Movie of a Game of a Movie. In 2001, The Fast and The Furious came out. Need for Speed Underground came out in 2003 and was clearly inspired in almost every major way by the movie, including visual style, car types, modding etc. Now we have a movie of the game series of Need for Speed. It essentially feels like 'art' cannibalising itself.
So, this is clearly an attempt to exploit the audience base of the game. As such, it's pretty much what you'd expect: poor local hero is set up by rich scumbag friend and upon his release from jail decides the only way to obtain justice is to beat him in a race (?!)
The movie is full of badly… Read more
