Dean Koonts manages to articulate in his usual sensitive and detailed style the depth of emotion that losing a much loved and special dog elicits. What is really great about this book is that he doesn't just dwell on the loss, but instead celebrates the privileged relationship a guardian has with that once in a lifetime dog some of us are lucky enough to experience.

It helped me to make sense of the stew of feelings and emotions I experienced on the loss of my very special boy and made me realize that I was only grieving because I was missing the hell out of him.
