Anyone who likes Greece or is thinking of going there would enjoy this book. Spinalonga, the Island of tears, it most certainly is. I visited there a few years ago and this book bought all the pain and history of the island and its inhabitants to life.
I could not put this book down even though it was distressing to read the beasial brutality that the main character witnessed and was forced to engage in. However, it was crucial to the story and the horrific events portrayed illustrated just how cruel mankind can be.
