Trueshopping Ferdinand Modern Ceramic Close Couple&hellip by Trueshopping

It took three attempts to deliver a toilet and cistern that weren't smashed to bits due to the appalling packaging. One thin bit of cardboard separating the two items and both floating about naked in a cardboard box is hardly going to result in a successful delivery. On the third attempt we got a functioning product that is installed and working just fine. So, happy with the toilet and with the customer service (no quibbles with replacing smashed units), but there were issues with the packing. Hopefully these will have been addressed.
Amulets and Talismans: Simple Techniques for Creat&hellip by Robert Dancik

I love Robert's work so it is a pleasure to see his pieces in such depth in this book. They are quirky yes, and inspirational. He walks the reader through 20 projects with each step clearly shown. Photographs are explicit and lists of tools and materials helpful. There are also plenty of examples of the work of other artists to drool over. While the emphasis here is on jewellery-sized items, many of Robert's pieces could be scaled up and would look equally stunning as larger sculptural works. I find I use this book often as I work my way through my own constructions and I always get inspired in new directions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something different., 19 Sep 2009
I found this a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill 'how to' books on offer. It gives an insight into how one artist approaches his particular compulsion and leads the reader through his methods and dilemmas to finished pieces. It is well-presented in imagery and text and I find I dip into it frequently, not necessarily for technique (plenty of other books cover this) but for a change of outlook. I have been inspired in directions I might not have taken if I hadn't had this book on hand.
