Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
Having never read any novels by Murakami before, I dived into Norwegian Wood with an open mind. I'm pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised. The story gathers pace and once the characters are all in place the complex and emotional choices taken by the main protagonist are thoroughly exciting to follow. I've never had such a connection with a book's character for a long time. Not since Winston in Orwell's '1984'.

On reading, you will be kept guessing and hoping for the best. That's how much you end up caring about Wanatabe (the boy who's central to the story).

I wish I could read it again for the first time.
