I have to be honest, this overdrive ain't for me. I've tried hard to love it, but the cut lows and boosted mids just don't work for me. I've had the pedal about 4 years, and try as I might, I just can't seem to get along with it.

But... It may be exactly what you're looking for. Its tonally very similar to the legendary Ibanez Tubescreamer (perhaps slightly brighter)... It produces a smooth, natural sounding overdrive that works best when pushing a slightly crunchy valve amplifier. If you're after the Tubescreamer sound, check this baby out first, and save yourself a heap of cash.

This is a review of the altazimuth (90AZ) version of the Celestron Astromaster 90.

First the good stuff...

Celestron have produced excellent optics for this scope. Extremely clear view, with almost no noticeable spherical aberration. Though there is noticeable chromatic aberration, it's by no means bad. The 90mm aperture has excellent light gathering ability, and it has a long focal length of 1000mm.

This scope features "erect image optics" which means it can be used for terrestrial purposes too. Most astronomical telescopes drop the correcting lens required for this, as it reduces the amount of light reaching the eyepiece.

I think it's worth mentioning that this capo's spring is very strong (it needs to be for a 12string), any guitarist's who might suffer with a bit of Arthritis or RSI in the hand may want to look elsewhere. It's not a problem for me normally, but the spring does require some force to open the capo, and when I have had achy hands in the past I tend to find it difficult to grip, and press...
