...but only works on early Mac PCs so don't waste your money if you're hoping to run it on Windows. I explored it for a while at the Chris Marker retrospective at London's Whitechapel Gallery but it needs lots of time so I was full of regret I couldn't buy it to run at home (I don't have a Mac); but then I found it on the website Gorgomancy.net, with other Chris Marker works that are hard to find. So if you're interested in Immemory, buy it to run on Mac or go to Gorgomancy.net to play with it on your PC as a web page. It's worth the effort if you like Marker's work and his quirky take on film, art and what happened to us in the 20th century.

He alerted me to this gem in his alternative Oscars list, otherwise I might have missed it. Of course there are points where the film goes for dramatic effect but it definitely, gloriously captured key moments, like first hearing and experiencing punk and the story of "Teenage Kicks". There was always something unique about punk in Northern Ireland but I never knew what or why - this film goes a long way to explaining that. The finale concert with the anarchic rendition of Sonny Bono's… Read more

Much Ado About Nothing [DVD] [1993] DVD ~ Kenneth Branagh
I found this no more than an average adaptation. There were moments that jarred, such as all the girlish rushing about in the early scenes and some of the costumes were risible. However what most detracted from this film was Branagh. Particularly in the early section of the film he seemed to think that to express distaste for marriage in general or to Beatrice in particular all he had to do was squeak his lines.

I also found the US actors distinctly out of place, but I suppose Branagh had the US marketplace in mind. Denzel Washington looked uninterested and at times even bemused; Keanu Reeves seemed to need some action to leap into; and I wondered if Robert Sean Leonard had… Read more
