The Goon Show, Series 4, Part 1 (The Golden Age of&hellip by Spike Milligan
5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD Set, 22 Feb 2012
The sound quality on this CD set isnt as good as on other releases of Goon Show recordings but if it wasn't for these recordings remastered there wouldn't be any of the 4th series around. I would much rather hear these fantastic recordings, warts and all, rather than not at all. They are a real credit to the restorer Ted Kendall.

The name, The Goon Show Series 4 Pt 1, would suggest that there is more to come at some point and I cant wait!!
The Goon Show Compendium, Vol. 1, Series 5, Part 1&hellip by Spike Milligan
Every couple of years I have looked to see if there was a compendium of Goon Shows and to my amazement they are now out on series compendiums at long last!! Even with the missing episode this is an excellent box set. The sound quality is excellent thanks to the restoration carried out. Its a real joy to listen to in the car whilst in a traffic jam to and from work and makes the journey seem much… Read more
Is That Bike Diesel, Mate?: One Man, One Bike and &hellip by Paul Carter
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, 17 Feb 2012
This is the first of Paul Carters books I have read and it certainly won't be the last. Hilarious from the outset with plenty of anecdotes.

The first half of the book is about the planning , raising funds, finding a suitable bike and getting the bike ready for the trip. The second half is is road trip and the adventures he has during the trip.

The last half of the road trip is crammed into 3 of the 21 chapters but there is probably only so much he can write of broken CV belts, and how much vibration his body can take on the bike that the book would become very tedious if it was stretched out into any more chapters.

If you liked the books Long Way Round and… Read more
