Initially I was put off buying this book as I could not for the life of me see how Paxman would know anything about Victorian Art. (Clearly our lords and masters at the BBC think we are too dim to appreciate anything unless it is fronted by a 'celebrity').
However, the text has in fact been written by another (see the acknowledgements tucked away at the end of the book)who obviously does know his stuff.
This is a good starter on Victorian Art and I would recommend it highly to anyone who wants an informed overview.
