Alexisonfire ~ Alexisonfire
After getting into City and Colour recently I was curious about Dallas Green's previous band. I knew that Alexisonfire were a world away in terms of musical style, but I was under the impression that they were half-way good. The music on this CD consists of very ordinary post-punk guitar work the limited merits of which are completely negated in my view by a vocalist who screams unintelligibly throughout. I enjoy a diverse range of music and am no stranger to abrasive bands, e.g. Big Black, Killdozer, Butthole Surfers and Fugazi, but this CD is really painful. It reminded me of when I walk past the Lock-up Tent at the Reading Festival. Avoid.
