This is the best book on photography I've ever read. Forget those 'How-to do stuff with your digital camera' type books, this one is timeless. Rowell starts with an incredible photo and describes how it came to be, both how and why he was at that place in that moment in time, and the technical details of the photo. These are not complete, he only gives the most relevant info, like the fact he used small aperture for lots of depth-of-filed, etc.
A must have for all photographers.
