I bought this as a Christmas present having seen it highly recommended in 'Mrs MoneyPenny' (FT on Saturday) and even those in our household with no interest in Formula One picked up the book and were carried along by the graphic style of writing. Society is increasingly visual and plot driven and The Art of War by Adam Parr is very much a taste of things to come - serious writing juxtaposed with intriguing comic-book illustrations. The great advantage is that the writer can leave out of the 'filler' and 'padding' and cut to telling the main story which makes for a detailed yet fast-paced, high-octane read. Highly recommended.
Loved the story - very readable because it isnt too long, its exciting and doesnt take itself too seriously. It is crying out for a great illustrator and then it will be perfect. I specially enjoyed the portrayals of the members of staff - the author clearly had plenty of real-life experience to draw on. Children of every age should read this delightful, wacky and entertaining book.
