It came well reviewed by the literary crowd but what a let down. Every character was indistinguishable from the other. The " hero " was the most unlikeable of the lot. What a pity he couldn't stay buried. The book would have finished, eighty pages earlier.
The convention of using short chapters beaks up any attempt to create rounded characters producing a series of vignettes rather than a crafted narrative. I couldn't decide whether the author wanted a novel that was a "cracking, gothic yarn" or beautifully portrayed characters. The best authors can do both. James Bradley does neither.

Folk Album of the Year. No contest. Not only that, close to being best of the year in all categories.
Clean harmonies, unfussy instrumentals and a classy production.
Try this album even if traditional folk is not normally your bag.

I've tried, I really have but I do not like this. All the tracks are very similar. There is no light and shade. It's completely overproduced. Where is the fiery fiddling which brought him to so many people's attention.
He is definitely moving full speed to pop stardom. I"m beginning to think that Seth Lakeman's best album will always be Kitty Jay.
