Ball & Chain by Markus Anders
Ball & Chain by Markus Anders

This book was just plain bizarre.
It's 220 pages on my Kindle, so not a short story, and yet everything happens so quickly.
Brad, the main character, signs up for online dating and immediately finds two gays, Richard and Sean, who both seem to want him, even though one has only just met him and the other is an old classmate who is engaged to a woman.
There is a murder, trial, sentencing and over-turn of the sentence in the space of about fifty pages (usually an entire novel would be taken up with this process).

As with the first book in this series, I absolutely loved this book.
Axton's character in this book was consistently shy and partially submissive, as in the first book, but there were growth in both of the characters that was both believable and helped to move the story along.

I ordered this food for my dog, as part of an experiment I was doing with three food brands for my degree dissertation.
He absolutely hated this food (he's normally greedy and scoffs his food hurriedly, but he left large portions of this).
He became hyperactive at times, which was particularly irksome when we had guests over and he just wouldn't settle (he was constantly pushing for attention or for us to play with him, all night long).
I also cannot see how, long term, a vegetarian food is good for dogs; they are naturally carnivorous (their digestive system is identical to a wolf's), so I can't see that soya proteins instead of meat proteins are exactly what their diet… Read more
