5.0 out of 5 stars 19-minute-laptopia, 23 July 2005
yet another great release from austria's favorite. Here collaborating with R. Sakamoto. However due to the nature of this recording you will be able to recognize only 10% of Sakamoto input (unlike say collaboration with Alva Noto where the roles are more equally balanced), the rest 90% goes to mister Christian Fennesz.

5.0 out of 5 stars reaching maturity, 21 July 2004
i am sure that many will be reluctunt to prize this album 5 stars, but after some thought and considering those awfully superficial reviews this great piece of music got from the mag professionals, i will not hesitate to do so.
those are almost 45 minutes of tortoise distilled genius. being a great jazz band in its core, here gives the best taste of the musical forms it has presented through the years, with cuting edge production.
the main complaint by the reviewers is that this time tortoise don't try to push any boundaries, however being jazz they are entitled not to do so through amazing experimentalism but through magnificent reworking of known patterns.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely brilliant, 17 July 2004
i never expected that sonic youth would make it again to the top of my albums-of-the-year top. i mean as a big fun, i always counted them in my top ten, but this album is undoubtedly their best since long time
tha ballance between experimentation and kicking rock songwriting is to be taught in any school of rock
i hear new bands of 20-year-olds and the kids are already old and boring
these fellas in their 50's they totally justify their name once again
sonic youth, tell the nurse to keep waiting...
