GARDENA Turbotrimmer AccuCut 450 Li by Gardena

London Red Double Decker Bus Tin Plate Model by Nordstrom

These are really poor and how they could be described as for the "collector" I don't know. Loosely based on the Routemaster they look little like the real thing with a bonnet and front end that is all wrong. Even the destination transfers (decals) are all out of proportion. Possibly OK as a child's toy they are a very poor representation of a Routemaster. The colouring is also "odd" with a kind of pseudo antique paint finish that just makes it look like its dirty.

Any collector who likes tinplate models and wants a routemaster can look for one of the modern Mettoy range which are proper scale models though likely to cost more you can sometimes get them for a not dissimilar price.

It is this paper and print quality that makes this item what it is and distinguishes it from plainer alternatives.

Younger children may need some adult or older sibling help but personally I think that is no bad thing as it is more fun doing something like this together with another person… Read more
