The second part of the excellent novel " Before the Storm " but contains a lot of that novel so can be speed read in parts. Maggie spends much of the novel enduring prejudice from people she used to regard as friends and she still feels wracked with guilt. Keith's mother has also disappeared giving an extra dimension to the story - but you must read " Before the Storm " first so that all the characters make sense.

Excellent story about a wronged wife who risks losing her 11 month old baby just because of a Judge's wrong decision and her lawyer ex-husband with his new wife's determination to wrest the child from her. After losing the court battle she decides to get as far away as possible with her baby , make a new life and disappear for ever. Another Diane Chamberlain book that you won't be able to put down
