Once again Anthony Beevor has written a superb book. Having read his last three books I was a little aprehensive that covering the entire second world war in one volume would be a "Bridge Too Far". Not so, a comprehensive, articulate and human account of this world wide conflict only re enforces my opinion the he remains the present days premier historical author. An observation, after reading about the Italian campaign, how did we ever win?
