Jefferson Airplane's 'Surrealistic Pillow' is the quintessential 60s album; managing to capture both the spirit of the era, and combining the bands unique musical style - that still sounds fresh today.
Whilst several versions of this album exist on CD format, this 2001 re-release of the 1996 'Gold disc' edition is the only one to really do the music justice; offering both mono and stereo mixes of each - the former offering a surprisingly different, less 'echo-y' sound (the CD runs for over 69 minutes...). In fact, even if you already own this classic album, I still recommend purchasing the re-release - especially if like me you had only heard the *awful* 1988 German release!
