I have made use of the opportunity, provided by this site, to read the first few pages of the book. My first impression was that it was going to deliver all that it promised. That the author was going to make me share in his love of nature and in his joy in its splendour. He brings us intot the field, he describes the delicate atmosphere of a silent late winterafternoon and he does it well, you get the feeling that you are there with him, hiding in a trench to observe a couple of snipe. Then he tells us, "Sometimes I bring my shotgun, to shoot pigeons, pheasants or rabits...." Fellow vegetarians beware, this book is not for us!
