I spent £40 on this turkey, and played it for about an hour. That was long enough to discover how dreadful the combat system was (just fly in circles firing blindly) a space combat system that's even more basic than the X Wing games from 20 years ago. No radar, no targeting, no tactics whatsoever. How could they release such a pathetic combat system? The mind boggles.

Now some of you will say that an hour wasn't enough time to give it a fair crack of the whip, but given the legion of bug reports that others have encountered it turns out I just saved some of my sanity though not persisting with utter dross.

I made it up to chapter 24 and then felt able to confidently predict that this book was not going to live up to its early promise. In page after page of flowery prose we look into an alternate reality where magic once actually existed, was lost and is being reclaimed in eighteenth century England.

Sadly the plot is both very slow, and extremely unsympathetic - the characters are all tremendously vain, supercilious, shallow, pompous, and quite unbelievably self-involved.

This is the most impressive game launch in years, and is likely to prove to be the second MMO to reach the stature of World of Warcraft.

You should find yourself familiar with many of the game mechanics - generate a character, go questing, level up, join battlegrounds to play some PvP. No player should have any difficulty in getting into the game and having a good time.
