Haunted Boston by Gemma King
Haunted Boston by Gemma King
4.0 out of 5 stars Good local book, 24 Nov 2013
I love ghost stories - and these local "Haunted" books are fascinating - especially if you know the town.
I would have liked a little more background information on the history of some of the ghosts - for some of the apparitions there is no backstory at all - and it's the stories about what originally killed the person who appears as a ghost which interests me most.
Still, I loved the "Spooky's" shop story and the copy is easy to read and unpretentious.
If you know Boston it's definitely worth a look.

As a younger viewer, I was disappointed by the lack of gore (even with the "eyeball scene" reinstated it still only gets a 12 certificate these days) and action.

Most people interested in this will have seen it a million times, and it's the extras which appeals to many.
It seems to have been glossed over that… Read more

At 16 minutes long, I'm not sure if this really qualifies as an album.
16 songs, 16 minutes - that's punk rock for you!
Off! is the "punk rock supergroup" fronted by ex-Black Flag/Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris. They write short, fast and occasionally catchy hardcore punk.
So, is it as good as the First Four EPs collection?
Not really. But that would be a huge ask! The songs aren't as immediate or catchy. But while there's no Panic Attack, it's a pretty good follow-up. It's about the same length too!
Again, it's the vocals which are most prominent in the mix - they provide the anger, the passion and the melody.
The music is loose lo-fi, fast and melodic punk… Read more
