I really love Freire's Chopin. No mannerisms, no over romantic but no lack of emotions.
If you are looking for a near-definitive recording of these pieces, look no further!!!

Felipe Scagliusi's debut CD on AVIE shows that Brazil keeps the flood of great pianists that started with the wonders of Antonietta Rudge, through Guiomar Novaes and Nelson Freire.
Felipe's interpretation of the pieces does not follow any conventions just pure musical interpretation of the material. The over romantic Schumann gives way to a more elegant, sophisticated and melodic Schumann and in a way more romantic than the noisy romantic conception that sometimes we have for this composer. It has also the added bonus of containing the recording of the Sonata Op 14 a work that is not often recorded.
