Catastrophe: Europe Goes to War 1914 by Max Hastings
I'm only up to the battle of the Marne but, quite honestly I am disappointed with the number of minor mistakes that Hastings and the publishers could not seem to be bothered to put right - presumably in order to meet the pre-June 2014 deadline for publishing. Here are some that I can recall.. 1) a shocking non sequitur early on in the book; 2) numerous instances of using the word prevaricate when procrastinate was intended (consult your dictionary MH); 3) one instance in which the name Franz Josef was used when Franz Ferdinand was meant (it may have been the other way, I forget); 4) twice mentioning that the BEF retreated south easterly from Mons towards Paris (it is south westerly); 5)… Read more
Seems to work very well, But on three occassions I have uplugged this thing, cleaned the fittings, then gone to put it away only to get a rather painfull electric shock off the plug. I think the idiots put the capacitor on the wrong side of the switch. If you don't like pain, I'd consider giving this product a miss if I were you.
VTech Baby Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball (Ora&hellip by VTech
You never know the impact, or not, of a toy you buy for a 6 month old baby. Sometimes they would rather play with a plastic rattle, or a piece of scrunched up cellophane that a £50 toy from FP, etc. So I bought this on a gambit. However, our daughter loves this, for short periods of time. It has a spinning ladybird on top; ribbons to grab hold of; lights; and some decent British English songs. She has not yet learnt to crawl after it, but it is a toy that she gets quite some enjoyment from, albeit for only 3-5 minutes at a time. Worth the money, but not a panacea.
