5.0 out of 5 stars An unusual story-line., 25 May 2014
Much of this novel revolves around a quilt, which sounds absurd but really isn't. It was a thought-provoking, well-informed and intelligent read.

This is story of a Sicilian woman, her daughter and granddaughter, and they each had their own story-line going on. I found the grandmother's story the most interesting, but I couldn't empathise with any of the women. In fact, the only character in the whole book that I liked was the grandfather, whose role was tiny. And it certainly isn't a good advertisement for Sicily!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly a five star!, 25 May 2014
This was an interesting novel, much of it about the history of an Indian woman and moving backwards and forwards effortlessly between her life and the current time. I enjoyed it very much and would gladly read another book by the same author. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I thought the climax was OTT.
