Loves Miracle ~ Qui
ok, hands up who wondered how long it would take before david yow got bored with the graphic design, or whatever it was?
after the untimely demise of the jesus lizard most focus was on what mr yow would do next. i was unaware of this band for some time, coming across them by accident
so what of the album then. well, and apologies for harping on about the lizard - but that's what most people reading this will be familiar with - it's about half a good album. it starts off very well but fades badly. the sound is pure rock, a huge sound created. though, oddly enough, all done without bass. when i first read the sleevenotes i thought this was odd, but tbh you hardly miss it. best… Read more

ulrich schnauss' 2007 effort was quite simply my best album of that year, fending off strong competition from oceansize to earn this somewhat dubious honour
this album to me is the most focussed of his efforts to date, dreamy and ethereal while still remaining accessable. best tracks are 'stars' and my personal fave 'medusa', which sounds like it's been recorded via a white noise generator (think scala's 'ride on' and you're on the right track)
i see the word shoegazing being mentioned when describing his work, i don't know enough about this particular genre to comment. would note though that the cocteau twins reference seems apt. listening to this, we can all be together in… Read more
